HMH Board of Trustees Meet

Hardin Memorial Hospital's Board of Trustees met Wednesday to review and approve the final draft of the FY13-15 Strategic Plan.  Mr. Gary Blair, OhioHealth's Director of Growth and Business Development, was present to review the final draft of the strategic plan.  The strategic plan is a "road map" to assist the hospital in providing the best possible services to the residents of the community.  The final plan focuses on the implementation of the Master Facilities Plan in FY2013 (July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013) which includes updating the Emergency Department.

The Finance/Audit/Compliance Committee report revealed that year-to-date the hospital system's operating margin is running above budget.  The Committee also made a recommendation and the Board approved the FY2013 Operating Budget which contains capital improvements.

The Quality of Care Committee made a recommendation and the Board approved the application of Mesfin Seifu, MD who applied for courtesy privileges with the eICU.  The Committee discussed the OhioHealth Quality scorecard and also a few safety events.

The Community Needs Committee discussed the Press Ganey customer satisfaction results for the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2012 (January through March 2012).  Mrs. Joy Bischoff, CNO shared with the committee ways that the managers and directors have been working on to provide excellent customer service.  The year-to-date Balanced Scorecard was also reviewed, which is a best practices tool used to gauge performance against strategic targets for Clinical Quality, Customer Service, Quality of Worklife and Financial Performance.  Chris Davis, Public Relations Director, reported on many events the hospital has participated in and offered to the community.

The Senior Management report was given by Mark Seckinger, CEO who stated the hospital conducted the confidential Associate Opinion Survey (AOS) with 99% of associates completing the on-line survey.  The AOS and Physician Perception Study results are measured in the Qualityof Worklife quadrant of the Balanced Scorecard.  Seckinger also reported that the construction project continues to be on budget and schedule and the new Specialty Center area is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of July.

Mr. Seckinger also noted that many HMH associates, who are celebrating 20, 25 and 30 years of service, will be traveling to Columbus on June 26th to attend the OhioHealth Shopping Trip.

With no further business, the board meeting was adjourned.
